So... it's day six of the Seven Days of Halloween here at Honest Comics Reviews. What a great run of reviews we have had this week thus far.

As you may know, I pre-selected nine books, series or graphic novels before hand to read and review for this special week. I chose them based on one criteria; they had to be based in the horror genre. Most of the books reviewed this week are absolute gems. Others... well not so much.

Marvel Zombies, written by Robert Kirkman of Walking Dead fame and drawn by Sean Phillips, is little more than the world's superheroes in a state of perpetual hunger. The few remaining superheroes that aren't zombiefied are stuck fighting the ones that are. If you are wanting more depth than that you are going to be disappointed.

I truly had no idea what to expect going into this book, but to be honest, with Kirkman's name on it, I did expect more. Please don't get me wring, it is fun to see some of my favorite heroes as zombies and some of the zombie jokes are great, but the jokes and the fun wasn't enough support five entire books for me, let alone five additional series, which I have not read as of yet.

The artwork by Sean Phillips is okay and there are some artistic gems in the pages of this book, but all in all, Phillips art was overly dark and muddled.

Marvel Zombies #1 get a C+ grade. It doesn't fail, as it does entertain, but it isn't everything a Kirkman fan would expect from a Kirkman series.

Until next time... Remember that gun won't work unless you aim for the brain. Brain Splatter Matters.
